When Was the Last Time You Reviewed Your Beneficiaries?
I put out this periodic reminder because it’s important. Are you accidentally leaving your assets to an ex-spouse? To someone who is deceased? To someone you no longer wish to leave money to or who might not need it? When we are young, single, childless, and first start working, we often leave our company paid life insurance to our mothers, as an example. Perhaps your family situation has changed since then and you now have a spouse, children, and a home and your income would need to be replaced for the financial needs of the family. Make sure your beneficiaries are in line with your wishes and are keeping pace with changes in your life and lifestyle. It’s important to periodically check the beneficiaries on your retirement and savings accounts as well as your insurance policies - take a few moments and review.
