Supporting Your Children May Not End at College Graduation and Other “What Ifs”
It is becoming common to hear of adult children in their 20s and 30s still living in their parents’ homes. On the other end of the spectrum, the care for aging parents may also happen at the same time. This may impact family finances, delaying retirements or causing one partner to possibly retire earlier than expected. Couples who were married a long time may decide to part ways. Someone may fall ill or become deceased. There are many reasons why life events may “edit the script” of your financial plan. Meeting with your financial professional to discuss and plan for these hypotheticals is important – having some answers should circumstances present themselves is a way to have some control when life is topsy-turvy.
